Fuel Mileage Charts

When I was looking at vehicles to purchase for towing use, I  heard a variety of opinions concerning the mileage performance of Ford, Dodge, and Chevy full size trucks and SUV's.

Not satisfied to settle for rumors and "guestimates" concerning the mileage people were getting on their tow vehicles, I decided to keep records of the mpg of the first tow rig I purchased - a 1999 Ford F250 V10.  That truck was replaced with similar 2000 Ford F250 V10 truck (but some notable differences) which I have recorded mileage charts for it as well.  My newest is a 1998 Dodge Cummins Turbo Diesel truck, and I am still interested in posting my recorded mileage so others can get an informed look at actual mileage on a variety of trucks.

I will also be adding mileage records from any other vehicles that readers submit.  If you have records in a similar format to the ones you see here, feel free to send them to me and I will post them here.  Make sure you include the specifics about the truck the records are kept on - such a year, make, model, 2wd/4wd, long/short bed, camper tops, lift, tire size, gears, etc.  The more info you give - the better readers are able to understand the mileage records posted.

Also, here is a sample Excel Spreadsheet to get you started if you want to keep your own records:
